Elect Cherese Bourgoin for State Representative (R)

I feel for anyone to make any difference for the greater good of the whole community. Honesty and transparency is the cornerstone, fundamental to forward movement. Honesty helps to build trust and that is something we need to reestablish with leadership.

Meet Cherese

I am running for all of us in the 45th legislative district. I am a 20-year small business owner in downtown Kirkland and have been at ground level listening to my clients’ concerns about the direction our region and state is heading in. In January, a homeless individual came into my place of business and locked himself into one of my washrooms for over an hour. My employees called the police three times, and no one showed up. This is unacceptable for any business or citizen to experience. Once elected I will help to clean up the mess of the policies pushed through these past 2 years.

1

Address crime

Address the rising crime that our region is facing by removing and amending the police and crime reform bills. Focusing on failure to yield, personal possession of controlled substances and theft.
2

Evaluate homeless programs

Evaluate homeless programs funded by the state. In 2022 alone, WA legislature allocated $800 million to address homelessness. Despite these funds and the hundreds of millions already spent, the number of individuals experiencing homelessness continues to increase. A sizable percentage of individuals experiencing homelessness suffer from mental illness or substance addiction. The mental health and substance abuse components must be addressed.
3

Lower taxes and reduce spending

With current inflation and a possible recession, I will look for opportunities to reduce spending and lower taxation. Including the .46¢ carbon fuel tax going into effect January 2023 making our state the highest for fuel tax in the nation.
4

Improve education

I will look to our future in education and prioritize our students by getting them back on track. WA ranks 31 in our nation for education. Statewide assessments administered last fall by OSPI showed 70% of students failed to meet the standard in math, while 52% of students failed to meet the standard in English. The children deserve better.

Together we can

Get involved with your community

My Core Values

Honesty

I feel for anyone to make any difference for the greater good of the whole community. Honesty and transparency is the cornerstone, fundamental to forward movement. Honesty helps to build trust and that is something we need to reestablish with leadership.

Compassion

Cherese is always looking for ways to help in her community. Volunteering time, services and available resources. Or connecting people with services that can provide the necessary help.

Dependability

Dependability and accountability go hand in hand. As a leader you should walk your talk and do what you say. Showing up is more than just physically being there, your head and heart need to be present. When mistakes are made, own it, learn and grow from it and then press forward.

Reliability

For the past 24 years Cherese has been a service provider within the same industry. You can count on her to be committed to the cause for the long haul.

Courage

Cherese has the courage to stand up for our small business community and ask the questions that need to be asked. She will continue to show up for you. Courage is also the ability to set aside your own personal fears and doubts to help others even when you might be feeling the same apprehension.

Family

Cherese thinks family is so important for the growth of the individual. Be it by birth or choice, the people we call family give us support and a space to be us to learn with grace.
